Stargate Worldwide Entertainment
THE COMPANY
Founded in 1999, Stargate Worldwide Entertainment has always
held one mission in mind: to serve and elevate Hip-Hop culture.
"Having grown up with Hip-Hop," says CEO Tarik Edmonson,
"I feel like I have a responsibility to the culture."
The company started out as website, which offered audio streaming
and e-commerce services for independent artists in the New York/New
Jersey area. Though none of the artists attained major commercial
success, with the assistance of Stargate's expert staff, a few
artists were able to sell as many as 10,000 units. In 2000, the
company negotiated a distribution deal on behalf of Wu-Tang Clan
affiliate Poppa Wu for his first solo release Harmonic Realities
of the 10th Chamber. With the success attained in only its first
two years of business, Stargate Worlwide became a full-service
artist support firm.
Having relocated its base of operations to the Atlanta, Georgia
area, Stargate Worldwide Entertainment has also expanded its services
and interests. In 2002, the company produced a docu-drama entitled
Hip-Hop Honeys ATL Style. They've also decided to venture into
merchandising, creating the new subdivision Urban Air Fresheners,
Inc. in early 2004. Under this name, the company plans on releasing
a full line of automobile detailing products with a distinct Hip-Hop
flair. The company also hopes to eventually offer apparel and
accessories, targeting audiences in every genre from Hip-Hop to
Country.
